Twinings tea might be a staple for some, but I only just recently noticed it on the shelf after reading this book. I've been a Tetley girl most of my life, but i'm really loving Twinings English Breakfast blend lately (shhh... don't tell my Scottish Granny).
Did you know that Twinings has been the official supplier of tea to the royal household since 1837? With a history that long, you can only expect a great cup of tea. At home I use a teacup and saucer, which somehow seems to make all the difference (even if i'm not dining with the Queen), and I've been experimenting with all kinds of recipes for hosting afternoon tea. There's so many classic treats and savoury bites to accompany a little break in the day... I almost feel like baking my way through the whole book Julie & Julia style.

I haven't tried that kind yet, but I see it in all the specialty British stores around here! Even though we can get Tetley here, my Granny always brings some back from Scotland with her. My Mom claims it tastes different! lol...

DeleteTwining Earl Grey is my preferred way to start the day. Maybe it's just habit, but I love it and it makes me happy. Twinings for life!
ReplyDeleteI just tried their Earl Grey in a variety pack, but it's a little strong for my tasting! I'm going to give Lady Grey a go, it's supposed to be a lighter version of the Earl Grey. I love that habit of tea in the morning as well :)
DeleteYou absolutely must try Lady Grey, Daniella. Absolutely delicious and I would even say "elegant" (although that is maybe a weird thing to say about tea, but it is really the most appropriate word to describe it).

DeleteReading your post I immediately replaced my cup of morning coffee by a cup of breakfast tea (mixture of a local tea store called "Cream Royal" (black, assam, china tea with vanilla - it's gorgeous!). Thank you for reminding me of my forgotten tea shelf.. ;-)

I've heard of Cream Royal! I meant to try it a little while ago, it seems like a good flavoured tea that you could still add a little milk too. Yum!

Green tea is definitely my favourite. I love both twinings and tetley but I cannot go past the amazing green tea blends with rose petals and mangos from T2
ReplyDeleteI like green tea too, but usually only the kinds mixed with fruit, I find the floral kinds a bit too overpowering. I think it's because i'm so used to black tea!
Deletei love my english breakfast for well, breakfast. after that it's chai mostly. i use mugs, with an occasional cup + saucer.

DeleteI have a Twinings Earl Grey every morning! I like Lady Grey too -- it's orangey. Sweet chai loose tea is a favourite on the weekends.
